How Did Zoro Become a Swordsman
In his homeland of Wano Country, Zoro was taught the art of swordsmanship by the renowned swordsman Kuina. After her death, Zoro made it his life goal to become the world’s greatest swordsman and began training under Dracule Mihawk, one of the Yonko. He eventually became strong enough to defeat Mihawk in a duel, although their first encounter did not go as planned.
Zoro possesses immense skill in Swordsmanship, being proficient in various sword styles and techniques. His most commonly used swords are Wado Ichimonji and Shusui, but he has also been seen wielding other blades such as Sandai Kitetsu, Yubashiri and Enma. He is capable of using one or two handed grips depending on the situation.
When using one handed grip, Zoro is able to swing his sword with great speed and power while still maintaining excellent precision. His two handed grip gives him even more strength behind his swings but sacrifices some speed and accuracy. When fighting multiple opponents at once, Zoro employs a unique style known as Santoryu which involves wielding all three of his blades simultaneously.
This allows him to effectively fight multiple enemies at once or take down larger foes by attacking from different angles simultaneously. While most sword users can only focus on one opponent at a time, Zoro’s Santoryu style allows him to effectively keep track of multiple opponents and strike them down before they can even react. Over the years, Zoro has developed many signature moves that make full use of his exceptional swordsmanship skills.
Some of these moves include Tatsu Maki (a spinning slash technique), Utsusemi (a feinting move that leaves after-images), Ittoryu Iai: Shi Shishi Sonson (a quickdraw technique that can cut through steel) and Mugen The Great Oni Giri (a powerful multi-hit attack).
